Scanning Parties · Hudson Valley

100 free scans.
On us.

Gather a few friends and that shoebox of family photos. We’ll bring the scanner, scan 100 photos for every guest, and set everyone up with a private family archive.

You bring the people. We bring the scanner.

It’s the photo project everyone means to get to someday, done in an afternoon with friends.

  1. Step 1

    You host

Pick a few dates and invite your people — to your living room, your shop, or a community room. Anywhere with a table and an outlet.

  2. Step 2

    We scan, on the spot

Amie arrives with an Epson FastFoto, a high-resolution scanner that does about a photo a second. Each guest gets up to 100 loose photos scanned right there at the table. Your photos never leave your sight.

  3. Step 3

    Everyone leaves with an archive

The scans go straight into Heritable with a 2-week free trial. If Heritable isn’t for you, download the scans — they’re yours to keep.

What every guest takes home

A $50 value

100 free photo scans

High-resolution digital files of up to 100 loose prints, scanned while you watch.

Private by default

2 weeks of Heritable, free

A secure home for photos, videos, letters, and recipes. Photos sort onto a private family tree, timeline, and map, and relatives you invite can comment, tag, and search. Nobody sees your photos unless you invite them.

We’re here to help

Sound familiar? You’re not alone, and this is better with company. That’s the whole idea of a party.

  • Boxes of old photos sitting in a damp basement
  • The relatives who know the story behind that photo are getting older
  • Every cousin has a different piece of the family history
  • Everybody thinks somebody will deal with it someday
  • You’re the family curator everyone else depends on
  • It’s so much easier with a buddy in the room
Amie Anderson, cofounder of Heritable

Who’s coming

Meet Amie Anderson

Amie is a longtime local, a family therapist, and the cofounder of Heritable. She has spent years digitizing her own family’s photos, letters, and journals, and learned most of it the hard way.

She’ll run the scanner, set everyone up, and help with the questions that come up when you sit down with a box of old photos — practical and otherwise.

Good to know

What should guests bring?
Up to 100 loose photographs each — out of their albums and frames. A laptop helps for setting up the archive, but it isn’t required.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Every guest gets 100 free scans (a $50 value) and a 2-week free trial of Heritable. If someone decides to become a member at $20/month, that unlocks another 100 scans.
Do the photos leave our sight?
Never. Everything is scanned right there at the table, and the originals go home with you.
What if Heritable isn’t for me?
Download your scans and keep them. They’re our gift to you either way.
How long does it take?
About 15 minutes per guest. The scanner does roughly a photo a second, so most of the time goes to choosing photos and talking about them.
What does the host need?
A table near an outlet and a few people with photos. That can be your living room, your shop, a library meeting room, or a church hall.

Host a scanning party

We’re coming to Beacon, Cold Spring, Garrison, and Poughkeepsie. Tell us when and where, and we’ll be in touch to settle on a date.

Three dates that work for you

Your first choice, then two backups if you have them.

Morning or evening?

Pick both if either works.

Counting you. Roughly 15 minutes per guest.
