Heritable media kit

Amie Anderson’s mother was her family’s kinkeeper, the person who held everyone together through stories and traditions. After she died in 2002, Amie slowly took on that role herself. Then, around the time Amie became a mother in 2024, her mother’s siblings, now in their 80s, began clearing out attics and garages. Envelopes of photographs, handwritten recipes, letters and home videos started arriving at her door.

The family already had more than that. Amie’s father had digitized home videos from the 1990s, and a cousin had digitized 8mm film from the 1940s, including her grandmother’s wedding. All of it sat on hard drives, scattered across a dozen platforms, and none of those places let the family gather it, add to it together, or keep her young son’s face off social media.

Patrick Metzger, Amie’s husband and a longtime product and engineering leader, built the first version of Heritable for their own family. They have been building it together ever since: a private, shared archive where cousins fill in stories the rest of the family never knew. As Amie puts it, “Kinkeeping was never meant to be carried by just one person.”
